Operational Support - Apprentice at Ashfield District Council is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Housing Repairs and Maintenance Team as an Operational Support Apprentice. This role provides an opportunity to gain experience in a busy office environment and to develop skills in administration, customer service, and the social housing sector.
You will assist colleagues with a range of administrative and operational support tasks, including:
- Processing correspondence
- Maintaining records
- Data entry
- Handling telephone and email enquiries
- Complaint handling
- Providing general business support
You will gain a thorough understanding of how housing repair services are delivered to council properties across the district.

Training
As part of the apprenticeship, you will undertake a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship with West Nottinghamshire College, alongside on-the-job learning and development. You must be able to attend all required college sessions and complete the apprenticeship requirements successfully. The role will be based at Northern Depot, Station Road, Sutton in Ashfield and will consist of 37 hours per week over 5 days (Monday to Friday), with attendance at college as required. The apprenticeship is expected to last 18 months, with up to 3 months for End Point Assessment (EPA).
It is essential for the successful candidate to have a good level of English, Maths and ICT. You will also need to demonstrate your communication skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Eligibility
This apprenticeship is designed for individuals looking to develop their skills and gain a recognised qualification. Applicants who already hold a Level 3 qualification in Business Administration (or an equivalent qualification or higher level) are not eligible and should not apply.
