An international bank with a London branch in the City of London is seeking a Financial Accountant (Hedge Accounting & Regulatory Reporting) to join its finance team. This role offers hybrid working: three days per week in the office and two days per week from home. The position is suited for a qualified accountant with hands-on hedge accounting experience under IFRS 9 in a banking or regulated financial services environment.
As the Financial Accountant you will join a collaborative team of four, work closely with the Finance Manager, act as a key support and deputise in their absence, and gain exposure to senior-level oversight and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and review hedge accounting entries, documentation and effectiveness assessments in line with IFRS 9.
- Support technical accounting matters relating to financial instruments.
- Prepare daily P&L with detailed variance analysis and commentary.
- Produce financial statements and support the external audit process.
- Complete regulatory submissions to the Bank of England and Prudential Regulation Authority.
- Support Corporation Tax and VAT processes, and ensure compliance with Financial Services Compensation Scheme requirements.
- Perform control and reconciliation checks across finance systems (including Flexcube).
- Investigate and resolve accounting queries within the trial balance.
- Contribute to ongoing finance projects and process improvements.
- Proven hedge accounting experience within banking or financial services.
- Strong understanding of IFRS 9 and financial instruments.
- Experience of PRA / Bank of England regulatory reporting and statutory reporting is highly desirable.
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
- Strong Excel skills.
- Proactive, detail-oriented approach.
- Confident working independently and as part of a small team, with strong communication skills and ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.
Salary: up to GBP 65,000 per annum, plus a benefits package which includes a discretionary bonus scheme.
