Ashcroft Technology Academy (ATA) is seeking to appoint an additional member to join our Inclusive Care and Support team in providing support for students at risk of underachieving. The successful applicant will have experience of working with young people in a school environment and who feels confident in dealing with students who may be in difficult circumstances or who display challenging behaviour.
The successful applicant will also be expected to work with the Heads of Year, Leadership Group and staff to accommodate students as necessary such that they are integrated back into mainstream school as and when appropriate. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate strong literacy and numeracy skills, alongside the ability to work effectively as part of a team within a fast-paced and dynamic school environment.
The role requires excellent organisational and ICT skills, as well as the confidence to liaise professionally with staff, parents/carers and external agencies, all with a clear commitment to raising student achievement. A key element of the role is providing high-quality one-to-one mentoring for students who have been identified as experiencing barriers to learning, offering targeted support to help them overcome these challenges and achieve their full potential.
The successful applicant will be confident in working with young people, including those facing complex or challenging circumstances, and will be able to build positive, supportive relationships that enable students to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
All posts are 36.5 hours per week for 40 weeks per year. Some flexibility in working hours will be required including supporting a few evening meetings during the academic year.
The Academy is graded "Exceptional" for Behaviour and Attendance (OFSTED 2025). Inspectors recognised the calm, orderly and purposeful environment across the school, underpinned by clear routines, consistently applied expectations and a strong culture of respect. The inspection team also acknowledged the significant contribution of the Learning mentors, whose targeted support allows students to regulate behaviour, reflect on their choices and sustain positive conduct over time.
The Academy is heavily oversubscribed for places, achieves exceptional examination outcomes and maintains consistently high standards of student conduct and personal development.
