Lead, influence and elevate our safety culture. We’re seeking a highly experienced Health & Safety Director to provide strategic leadership across our operations, ensuring compliance, robust risk management and continuous improvement. This role plays a key part in shaping the safety performance of our demolition, earthworks and asbestos divisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and oversee the company’s H&S Management System, ensuring all procedures, safe systems of work and documented processes are current and effective.
- Provide leadership to our asbestos services division, supporting Contracts Managers, Supervisors and Operatives.
- Guide, support and develop the H&S Officer team, ensuring professional growth, coordination and consistent standards.
- Produce and review H&S documentation including Method Statements, Risk Assessments, CPPs and site induction materials for demolition, earthworks and asbestos abatement projects.
- Plan and complete regular site audits and inspections, offering practical advice and coaching at all organisational levels.
- Coordinate staff training requirements, working closely with the Training Coordinator to maintain competency across all teams.
- Engage with clients, Principal Designers, HSE and trade associations, acting as a key safety representative for the business.
- Oversee third‑party audits to maintain licences, accreditations and regulatory compliance.
- Support pre‑qualification and tender submissions, providing robust H&S content for bids.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong, senior‑level H&S leadership experience within demolition, earthworks, construction or asbestos environments.
- Excellent knowledge of UK H&S legislation (including CDM) and proven experience creating and developing safety culture.
- Chartered or working toward CMIOSH, with relevant qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma).
- Effective communicator with influence at all levels — site, senior management and external stakeholders.
- A proactive, solutions‑focused leader with high professional standards.
