Ashby's Consulting is a specialist recruitment consultancy operating at the top end of the white-collar construction and built environment sector. Our Construction division is trusted by some of the largest contractors, developers and consultancies in the UK and Europe, and we are now looking to expand the team.

We're looking for an experienced recruitment consultant who can run a genuinely 360° desk — combining business development, client relationship management and candidate resourcing — with the autonomy to build something of their own inside a well-established and highly regarded consultancy.

Growth in the Data Centre Sector

A significant part of our current growth is being driven by our specialism in data centre and healthcare-sector engineering — two of the fastest-expanding parts of UK construction. The UK's committed data centre pipeline has grown to 173 projects totalling 14.6GW of capacity as of September 2026, up from around 10GW just six months earlier, with a further c.4.4GW of projects in pre-planning. That growth is being driven by surging demand for AI and cloud computing infrastructure, alongside the UK government's 2024 decision to designate data centres as Critical National Infrastructure, which has accelerated planning approvals, grid connections and investment across the sector.

For a consultant joining our Construction division, that represents a rare opportunity: a sustained, multi-year growth market with strong fee potential, where Ashby's already has an established reputation and an active client base to work from — rather than a desk you have to build from a standing start.

The Role

  • Manage a full 360° recruitment desk across the construction and built environment sector
  • Develop new business and grow relationships with contractors, developers and consultancies nationally
  • Manage and expand existing client accounts, delivering an exceptional level of service
  • Source, assess and place high-calibre candidates against live client briefs
  • Build a genuine specialism, drawing on the firm's strength in data centre and healthcare-sector engineering

What We're Looking For

  • A proven background in agency recruitment, ideally within construction, engineering or a related technical sector
  • Confidence and experience running both the business development and candidate resourcing sides of a desk
  • A self-starting, entrepreneurial approach, with the drive to build a name for yourself
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a consultative approach to clients and candidates

Benefits

  • Up to 25% commission on all monthly billings, plus a quarterly bonus
  • Annual international company incentive trip
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Flexible working
  • Autonomy to run your own desk
  • Monthly incentives

If you're an experienced recruitment consultant looking to join an expanding consultancy where you can build your own name in a relaxed, supportive environment, we'd love to hear from you. We pride ourselves on exceptional service, long-lasting relationships and a strong team ethic.
