Ashby School is on a journey to greatness. We are seeking to appoint a Director of Sixth Form for our vibrant and popular Ashby Sixth Form, the Key Stage 5 provision within Ashby School. Offered as an Assistant Headteacher post or as a Grade 14 support staff role, we are seeking to appoint a fantastic leader with the passion and determination to embrace working with our amazing KS5 students to grow themselves, support them to achieve within and beyond the classroom and equip them for a successful future regardless of the next steps they want to take.
Ashby is a school that has been on a significant and sustained improvement journey in the last five years. It is a school with a strong history and a great reputation in its local community. From these deep roots, it has spread branches of collaboration within and beyond the LiFE multi-academy trust and is now ready to flourish in the next step of its growth from strong foundations through its revitalised leadership.
This role offers a unique experience to lead and further expand a KS5 provision that has seen applicants rise year on year since 2022. We currently have over 250 students in both Y12 and Y13 with around half our intake coming from our own 11-16 provision and half from a range of local providers including, but not limited to, our historical feeder schools of Ivanhoe in Ashby town and Ibstock. This allows us to offer an extensive curriculum which, whilst predominantly including ‘A’ levels, has recently been broadened to offer more applied courses so we are the right fit for more students. Alongside this, we have also added some packages of support for career destinations as we seek to ensure students have the opportunities and guidance they need to progress to successful employment either directly, via an apprenticeship or after a successful university degree.
As a large Sixth Form, the successful applicant would lead a skilled and dedicated team of pastoral staff with both year groups having a Year Team Leader who are in turn supported by a Deputy Year Team Leader, an administrator and a housekeeper who supports the site but also provides further administrative support. Our broader team of staff are dedicated, well trained and experienced and we are lucky to have such an array of support for our students and staff. This role would report to the Headteacher in the first instance.
Our Sixth Form is housed on its own campus style site creating a perfect juxtaposition of school support and student independence and is well served by its location within the town of Ashby. Students can access our 11-16 site for study in practical subjects and cohort events but appreciate the independence of study that their own campus affords. The site also provides study spaces, an academic library and break-out areas so all students can find their space and place with our provision.
We are passionate about growing successful students in the broadest sense, ready to embrace the opportunities life will offer them through great learning and great personal growth. This role also offers the opportunity to work with our fantastic senior team to continue to shape our transition into an 11-18 provider of high renown.
We very much hope that this is an opportunity that excites you. We are looking for an experienced leader with an appetite for innovation; a collaborator with a natural talent to lead others; a visionary with strategic skills to realise aims and an optimist who is not afraid of hard work. We look forward to receiving your application!
We anticipate that this will be a popular post and so if you are interested in a tour of our facility or to hear a little bit more about our Sixth Form, please book onto one of our 2 tours. Tours are scheduled for Thursday 5th February at 3.30pm and Friday 6th February at 8.30am. We regret we are not able to arrange individual tour events. Please note, tours start on our Sixth Form site which is our Leicester Road site not the main Nottingham Road entrance.
Safeguarding Statement: LiFE Multi Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
