We are currently seeking an experienced Toolmaker to join a Body Shop Toolroom at a leading automotive manufacturing site in Solihull. This is an ongoing contract opportunity supporting high-volume production in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment.
The Role
Working within the Body Shop Toolroom, the successful candidate will be responsible for the manufacture, repair, modification and maintenance of tooling used in automotive body assembly processes. This role suits a hands-on Toolmaker with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to minimising production downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Manual machining of tooling components using lathes, mills and grinders
- MIG and TIG welding of tooling, jigs and fixtures
- Repair, refurbishment and modification of production tooling
- Supporting body shop operations to ensure tooling availability and reliability
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- Working to high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience working as a Toolmaker in an automotive or high-volume manufacturing environment
- Strong manual machining capability
- Competence in MIG and TIG welding
- Previous experience within a body shop or toolroom environment
- Strong fault-finding and tooling repair skills
- Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualification preferred
This opportunity would suit a reliable and experienced Toolmaker who is comfortable working shifts and enjoys supporting production-critical operations within a demanding manufacturing environment.
Please note, this role is deemed inside of IR35. The Umbrella Pay Rate offered is inclusive of the Assignment pay rate, holiday pay and Apex Recruitments contribution towards Employer Costs.
