Contract: Until 31/06/26 (Will extend, project up to 2 years)

Hours: 37 per week

Location: Crewe (Hybrid – minimum 3-4 days onsite per week)

IR35 Status: Outside IR35

Role Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sustainability Technical Project Manager to support the delivery of large-scale sustainability initiatives within a complex procurement environment. The Sustainability Technical Project Manager will play a key role in driving operational delivery of sustainability programmes, supporting supply chain decarbonisation, compliance activities, governance, and stakeholder engagement across procurement functions and supplier networks.

This position will suit an experienced Sustainability Technical Project Manager with strong project delivery capability, procurement understanding, and a practical knowledge of sustainability regulations, reporting, and supply chain processes. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders, procurement teams, suppliers, and wider business functions to deliver measurable sustainability outcomes.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver procurement sustainability projects from initiation through to completion
  • Support delivery of the procurement sustainability roadmap and associated operational actions
  • Manage project plans, timelines, risks, governance activities, and stakeholder reporting
  • Support supplier decarbonisation initiatives and sustainability improvement plans
  • Assist with the integration of sustainability into sourcing and supplier selection processes
  • Support Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) activities
  • Track supplier compliance evidence, audits, questionnaires, and corrective actions
  • Support chain of custody and supply chain traceability activities across procurement processes
  • Develop guidance, templates, and operational support documentation for buyers and suppliers
  • Produce sustainability KPI reporting relating to emissions, energy, waste, and water metrics
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration across procurement, engineering, and supplier teams
  • Deliver presentations and updates to senior stakeholders and governance forums

Requirements Of The Role

  • Proven project management experience with a strong focus on delivery and operational execution
  • Experience managing multiple workstreams, risks, actions, and project timelines
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes and supplier management
  • Experience supporting sustainability or supply chain sustainability initiatives
  • Working knowledge of sustainability regulations and compliance frameworks
  • Understanding of Scope 3 emissions, carbon accounting, and decarbonisation principles
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 and sustainability reporting methodologies
  • Experience engaging with suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Degree qualified within Engineering, Sustainability, Supply Chain, or Business
  • Automotive industry experience advantageous
