This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Low Voltage Energy Management Engineer to join a high-performing electrical systems team within a world-renowned luxury automotive manufacturer. The role will focus on the development, validation, and integration of low voltage systems across multiple vehicle projects, working in close collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams and Group suppliers. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of low voltage energy management, diagnostic tools, functional safety, and complex electrical systems integration within the automotive sector. You will play a key role in ensuring vehicle compliance, performance, and customer satisfaction through robust design and delivery of 12V systems and associated components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, integrate, validate, and sign off low voltage systems, ensuring all relevant project requirements are met.
- Manage hardware and software configuration (System 42), check and approve circuit diagrams (Schaltplans), and support function development and ECU communication.
- Diagnose and resolve vehicle issues related to low voltage systems, using appropriate tools and methodologies.
- Deliver functional safety documentation sign-off and adhere to golden rules processes (e.g., ENG and ENG).
- Coordinate across engineering domains (Whole Vehicle, Body & Trim, Motion) and support compliance activities and functional validations.
- Lead platform change introductions, technical changes, and support B-Releases, K-Releases, and supplier readiness.
- Communicate key low voltage system information to Production, Aftersales, Logistics, and Project Management stakeholders.
- Work directly with suppliers and group-level engineers to ensure delivery of complete, fully functional low voltage solutions.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Strong understanding of vehicle low voltage systems, including energy management functions, 12V battery tech, alternators, DC/DC converters, and battery sensing modules.
- Familiarity with medium (48V) and high-voltage systems and their integration with 12V architecture.
- Knowledge of battery charging profiles, CCA/C20 standards, system load management, and circuit resistance.
- Experience with diagnostics, system modelling, crash/failure mode testing, and functional performance simulations.
- Proficient with CAN, LIN, and Flexray networks and Vector tools such as CANape, CANoe, INCA, and Diagra.
- Skilled in using diagnostic tools such as ODIS and IDEX for root cause analysis.
- Ability to write electronic system specifications and support development of system approval documentation in tools like SCD.
- Working knowledge of Functional Safety, Systems Engineering and golden rules compliance processes.
- Strong cross-functional communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering (or equivalent).
- High voltage training/qualification (desirable).
- German language skills (desirable).
