The Procurement Specialist is responsible for managing the procurement processes across both direct and indirect operations to meet the organisation's needs. This includes sourcing goods and services, selecting suppliers, negotiating pricing and terms, processing orders, managing contracts, and ensuring the performance of suppliers. The role requires advanced knowledge of procurement practices and the ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Key Responsibilities Of The Procurement Specialist

  • Product/Service Sourcing: Identify and source the appropriate products and services to meet the organisation's operational and production needs.
  • Supplier Selection: Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Pricing/Terms Negotiation: Negotiate competitive pricing, payment terms, and contractual conditions with suppliers to maximise value for the organisation.
  • Order Processing: Oversee the order process from requisition to delivery, ensuring timely and accurate fulfilment.

Qualifications & Experience Of The Procurement Specialist

  • Advanced knowledge of procurement practices, including sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiation, typically obtained through advanced education and substantial work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in procurement or a related field, with at least 2 years in a senior or leadership role.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Experience in managing and mentoring lower-level professionals or paraprofessionals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex procurement challenges.
