The role involves advising clients, their suppliers, and Ashbury advisors on regulatory compliance. You will use your regulatory knowledge to ensure Ashbury clients have due diligence and are compliant with the law. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing quality, accurate, and timely risk-based advice to enable customers to launch products competitively and safely.
  • Carrying out product information services, such as formulation, regulatory adaptations, specification/pack copy review, artwork review, alignment, and branded product reviews for compliance.
  • Researching and horizon scanning for changes in the regulatory landscape.
  • Reviewing and advising on changes to Ashbury clients’ policies.
  • Managing client customer complaints and providing risk-based recommendations.
  • Leading/supporting clients through product recall/withdrawal processes.
  • Liaising with government agencies and industry bodies.
  • Delivering training on regulatory and technical topics.
  • Developing relationships with client Technical/Regulatory decision makers.
  • Producing expert opinion content for marketing and training purposes.
  • Keeping up to date with legal requirements and labelling policies.
  • Maintaining and growing expertise in one or more subject areas.

Skillset / Experience

Knowledge Essential:

  • Degree level qualification in product safety, consumer protection, consumer law, or relevant experience.
  • In-depth regulatory knowledge in product safety.
  • Excellent understanding of legal requirements and consumer trends.
  • Aware of relevant changes in the regulatory environment.
  • Confident in applying knowledge to client scenarios.

Experience Essential:

  • Minimum 3 years in a regulatory role within industry or trading standards/enforcement.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Demonstrable independent working and time management skills.
  • Confident in applying requirements to product information.

Desirable:

  • Fluency in other languages.
  • Understanding of retail and manufacturing processes.
  • Aware of client PLM systems.

Skillset Essential:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to explain complex requirements simply.
  • Able to risk assess situations and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to research and gather information.
