The role involves advising clients, their suppliers, and Ashbury advisors on regulatory compliance. You will use your regulatory knowledge to ensure Ashbury clients have due diligence and are compliant with the law. You will be accountable for quality, accurate, and timely risk-based advice, enabling customers to launch products competitively and safely.
This role is key to the delivery of our services to clients and is part of the largest team within Ashbury, Advisory Services. The team consists of industry and regulatory professionals with expertise in food and non-food across manufacturing and retail internationally. You will report to a Team Lead responsible for service delivery to one or more clients.
Responsibilities include:
- Carrying out product information services, such as formulation, regulatory adaptations, specification/pack copy review, artwork review, alignment, and branded product reviews for compliance.
- Providing regulatory advice to Ashbury and its clients to ensure products are legally compliant.
- Researching and horizon scanning for changes affecting the regulatory landscape.
- Reviewing and advising changes to Ashbury clients’ policies considering new regulations and guidance.
- Managing client customer complaints and escalated issues.
- Providing risk-based recommendations for complaints/enforcement challenges.
- Leading/supporting clients through product recall/withdrawal processes.
- Liaising with government agencies and industry bodies.
- Delivering training on regulatory and technical topics.
- Developing relationships with client Technical/Regulatory decision makers.
- Attending client meetings to discuss regulatory affairs.
- Producing expert opinion content for marketing and training purposes.
- Keeping up to date with legal requirements and labelling policies.
- Maintaining and growing expertise in relevant subject areas.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Essential: Degree level qualification in product safety, consumer protection, or related field.
- In-depth regulatory knowledge in product safety.
- Excellent understanding of legal requirements and consumer trends.
- Aware of changes in the regulatory environment.
- Confident in applying knowledge to client scenarios.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years in a regulatory role within industry or enforcement.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Demonstrable independent working and time management skills.
- Confident in applying requirements to product information.
Desirable:
- Fluency in other languages.
- Understanding of retail and manufacturing processes.
- Aware of client PLM systems.
Skillset:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Able to explain complex requirements simply.
- Ability to research and gather information effectively.
- Stress resilient and able to work against tight deadlines.
- Consistently works at a high level of accuracy.
