About the Company:

Ravensdown as a co-operative is all about essential farm inputs, and smart people using smart tools with the latest science in mind and our shareholders’ interests at heart.

We are an integral part of the food creation process. We are the only co-operative that tests for, advises about, buys, ships, stores, spreads, measures and maps food creating nutrients and fertiliser in a truly integrated way.

Using technology, science, and smart people, we work in partnership with our farmers to provide the nutrients and agronomic solutions they need, together with innovative environmental products and services.

Through this, we are committed to Smarter farming for a better New Zealand.

About the role:

We are looking for a driven, customer focused agri-professional for an Agri Manager role based in the Methven area. This is a permanent full time position.

Our Agri Managers are trained and trusted advisors helping farmers get the most from their soil, pasture, crops and animals while assisting them to transition towards environmentally sustainable practices. Also helping to reduce their environmental impacts and optimise value from the land through the provision of nutrient advice, services and products.

As a key link to our farmers, you’ll have an important part to play in the success of their business; serving up the products, support and innovative solutions our farmers have come to rely on us for. Of course, this means the bulk of your time will be spent on farm, identifying farmers’ needs, selling tailored solutions, and strengthening relationships based on trust, credibility and mutual respect.

While helping farmers increase their profitability is a key focus of this role, you’re set for some impressive growth of your own. Because in terms of growing your career, there’s no better way to get more from your agronomic qualification and/or your existing industry experience. Not to mention your knowledge of soil fertility and farming systems. And since you enjoy a good yarn, we reckon the social, down-to-earth camaraderie that comes with this job will be right up your alley.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and implement a programme for visiting current and prospective customers, assessing and understanding their requirements and advising them on the most appropriate products and services, thus achieving sales targets.
  2. Utilise the available technology to give maximum benefit to Ravensdown shareholders in terms of profitability and environmental leadership.
  3. Create a plan to reduce their environmental impacts and optimise value from the land.

Ideal Skills & Experience:

  1. Sound knowledge of farm systems

  3. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships
  4. Understanding of changing landscape of New Zealand environmental policy and its implications for farmers
