The Opportunity
This is a key leadership role within the commercial team, responsible for overseeing the financial and contractual management of multiple projects of varying scale and complexity. Working closely with both operational and commercial leads, the successful candidate will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards, while protecting both client and company interests.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring expectations are clearly understood and consistently achieved
- Prepare accurate and timely valuations in line with contract requirements
- Identify, price, and manage variations throughout the project lifecycle
- Lead negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Oversee subcontractor procurement and full account management
- Issue subcontract orders and manage payment processes, including certification
- Prepare and submit contractual notices in accordance with project obligations
- Produce and maintain detailed commercial reports (CVR, Cashflow, Cost to Complete, Value for Money)
- Ensure robust document control and maintain accurate project records
- Deliver precise and timely financial reporting
- Operate in full compliance with company policies, procedures, and management systems
- Support and mentor junior team members, typically managing teams of 25

- Proven experience operating as a Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager within the construction sector
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills
- Experience within social housing refurbishment is highly desirable
- A proactive and organised approach, with strong attention to detail
