We are currently working with a well-established small contractor who is looking to appoint a Contracts Manager to oversee a small portfolio of live projects around the St. Albans area. This is an excellent opportunity to join a close-knit business delivering high-quality residential schemes, with real autonomy and the chance to make a visible impact.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for running circa 3 live projects at any one time, with a combined turnover of approximately £2 million. Projects typically include:
- High-end residential refurbishments
- Extensions and loft conversions
- Basement construction
- Small new-build and structural works
You will oversee projects from pre-start through to handover, managing site teams, subcontractors, programmes, costs, quality and client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall delivery of multiple residential projects
- Programme and cost control
- Management of Site staff and subcontractors
- Client liaison and progress reporting
- Ensuring H&S, quality and compliance standards are met
- Supporting procurement and commercial control
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience as a Contracts Manager, Project Manager, or Senior Site Manager within residential construction
- Background in refurbishments, extensions, lofts or basements is highly desirable
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Hands-on, commercially aware and proactive
- Aspiring Site Managers who are ready to step up into a Contracts Manager role will also be considered, provided they have run multiple residential projects and are keen to progress.
