We are currently working with a well-regarded, small main contractor operating predominantly across the Essex region, delivering a varied portfolio of schools, office and healthcare schemes. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support their commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant QS looking to gain hands-on experience across multiple project types while working closely with senior commercial staff in a supportive, close-knit environment.
The Role:
- Reporting directly to a Senior Quantity Surveyor your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with cost management across live projects
- Supporting the preparation of valuations and cost reports
- Assisting with procurement of subcontractors and placing orders
- Helping manage subcontractor accounts and payment applications
- Supporting variation assessments and cost forecasting
- Attending site meetings and liaising with site teams
- Assisting with final accounts and project close-out
About You:
- 1-3 years experience in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor role
- Background working with a main contractor (preferred)
- Exposure to new build and/or refurbishment projects
- Strong numerical and organisational skills
- Keen to learn and progress within the commercial function
- Good communication skills and a proactive attitude
- Relevant construction or quantity surveying qualification (or working towards)
