Our client, a leading UK contractor delivering some of the UK’s major construction projects, is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join their growing team. This is an opportunity to play a key role on London projects across sectors including commercial, offices and science buildings. Typical values schemes are £20m to £50m.

Working with a highly respected company, you will be responsible for managing the design process from pre-construction through to project delivery, ensuring coordination across consultants and stakeholders while maintaining programme, quality, and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate the design process across multiple project stages
  • Lead design meetings with consultants, subcontractors, and client teams
  • Review and manage design documentation to ensure buildability, compliance, and cost efficiency
  • Identify and mitigate design risks throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure designs meet programme requirements and regulatory standards
  • Support pre-construction activities including tender reviews and value engineering
  • Work closely with project managers and site teams to ensure seamless delivery on site
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Design Manager within a main contractor
  • Strong experience delivering large-scale construction projects in the UK
  • Excellent understanding of construction design processes and coordination
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and consultant teams
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills
  • Relevant construction or engineering qualification preferred
