We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum and recognise that healthy, balanced meals are a vital part of a child's early development. Our kitchen team plays an important role in supporting children's well-being every day.
Your Role as a Nursery Kitchen Assistant
As a Nursery Kitchen Assistant, you will support the Nursery Chef in the preparation and service of fresh, healthy, and age-appropriate meals and snacks. You will help ensure the kitchen runs smoothly and safely, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in line with food safety and health & safety regulations.
What You'll Be Doing
- Assisting with the preparation of healthy meals and snacks for children
- Supporting the Nursery Chef at another nursery site with food preparation and meal service
- Helping to maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment
- Washing up, cleaning equipment, and ensuring all kitchen areas are kept tidy
- Assisting with stock rotation and basic food storage checks
- Supporting the catering of children with allergies or specific dietary requirements, following guidance
- Working closely with nursery staff to support mealtimes and routines
- Following all food hygiene, health & safety, and safeguarding procedures
About You
- An interest in food preparation and children's nutrition
- Some experience working in a kitchen or food preparation environment (desirable but not essential)
- Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety, or willingness to undertake trainingA reliable, organised, and hardworking approach
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- A positive, flexible, and can-do attitude
