The predicted salary is between 13 - 16 £ per hour.

We have two part-time positions available; both are 25 hours per week. The right candidate will need to be able to work a selection of shifts Monday through Friday. Our shifts start from 7:30am till 6:30pm. Working hours are dependent on the needs of the business and may change. Extra hours will be required as and when to cover annual leave and sickness. Flexibility is a must for this post.

This is a fast-paced role, helping to provide a welcoming and professional service to patients, staff and visitors to the practice. Therefore it is important that you are a quick thinker, able to multi-task and remain calm under pressure. The ideal candidate must be a self-motivated person who has a passion for delivering excellent patient care, enthusiastic and friendly. Our Care Navigators work closely with our clinical team and wider colleagues in person and via email, therefore excellent communication skills and strong IT skills are essential for the role.

This is a varied role dealing with reception duties, prescriptions and administrative tasks. The candidate must be able to be empathetic towards patients, a problem solver and be able to use their own initiative. You should be able to work as part of a team but also be able to work on your own. Experience is not essential for this role and training will be provided.

As a Receptionist / Care Navigator you will be required to:

  • Ensure that all queries from patients are handled efficiently and courteously.
  • Keep surgery premises tidy and safe at all times.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Meet and greet patients, providing a friendly and helpful welcome.
  • Navigate patients to the right clinician and service.
  • Make new and follow-up appointments for patients via the telephone or in person at the Reception Desk.
  • Receive telephone calls and deal with enquiries/messages and/or direct them to the appropriate person.
  • Receive and record all requests for home visits, repeat prescriptions, including on-line requests etc.
  • Manage repeat prescriptions and ensure that these are signed and checked by the doctor before handing to patients.
  • Provide administrative support to clinical staff and other members of the team, such as scanning and data input.
  • Open and close the premises including checking heating and ventilation at the start and end of the surgery day.
  • Provide support and guidance to new staff during their induction.
  • Attend and participate in Practice and Reception Team meetings, as required.

To ensure effective communication with all Clinicians and other Practice and Community staff. Be aware of and adhere to Practice policies in relation to Health and Safety at Work and Fire Precautions. To attend appropriate training courses. Where necessary relevant training in the operation of new or unfamiliar equipment, software or procedures will be provided or arranged.

In the course of your duties, you may have access to confidential information about patients, staff or other General Practice business. On no account must such information be divulged to anyone who is not authorised to receive it. Confidentiality of information must be preserved at all times whether at or away from work.

You are required to comply with the regulations governing working time. Qualifications: Good standard of general education literate and numerate (i.e. GCSE equivalent). AMSPAR or similar qualification related to customer services and/or primary care.

Other Job Requirements: Willingness to attend training courses.

Skills and knowledge: Experience of using Microsoft Office Applications. Able to work on own and as part of a team. Ability to cope with stressful and difficult situations.

Personal Qualities/Requirements: Ability to maintain confidentiality. Approachable. Trustworthy & Discrete.

Experience: Experience of working in a busy customer focused setting, office/administration environment.
