The Graduate Project Engineer will support the design, engineering and technical delivery of façade and roofing systems for project-specific applications. The role will involve structural and thermal analysis, preparation of engineering calculations, and provision of technical support to internal teams and external customers.

Working closely with the Product Engineering and Technical teams, the successful candidate will develop a strong understanding of façade and roofing systems, their practical applications, and the engineering principles that underpin their performance. This role is intended as a development opportunity for a graduate engineer seeking to build a career within façade, roofing and building envelope engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the structural design of façade and roofing systems
  • Carry out wind load calculations in accordance with relevant standards and codes
  • Assist with design verification of fixings, brackets, rails, and associated support components
  • Develop practical understanding of system applications, installation considerations and design limitations
  • Produce engineering calculations and supporting technical documentation for project-specific applications
  • Support thermal transmittance (U-value) calculations using calculation-based methods and 3D heat transfer modelling
  • Use specialist software including HEAT3 and ANSYS
  • Assist in assessing thermal performance and system compliance requirements
  • Support structural assessment of façade panels, including interpretation and application of relevant standards and project requirements
  • Provide technical support to internal departments, customers and project teams relating to façade and roofing systems
  • Develop understanding of façade and roofing system design, testing and certification
  • Gain experience in engineering analysis software and industry standards
  • Work collaboratively with Technical, Product Engineering and Commercial teams to support successful project delivery

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or related Engineering discipline
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Interest in façade, roofing or building envelope systems
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel

Desirable

  • Familiarity with structural or thermal calculations
  • Experience using engineering analysis or CAD software
  • Placement year or industry experience within construction or manufacturing
  • Understanding of Eurocodes or relevant design standards
