About the Role
As Site Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the school provides a safe, secure, clean and well‑maintained environment for all students, staff and visitors. Working under the direction of the Headteacher and School Business Manager, you will lead on health and safety compliance, premises maintenance, security and site operations, ensuring all facilities are maintained to a high standard in a cost‑effective way. You will oversee the day‑to‑day management of the school site, supporting a seamless and efficient support service that enables high‑quality learning. As part of our SEND cluster within Discovery Trust, this role is integral to supporting the needs of our learners, and you will be expected to contribute to the shared responsibility of care in a collaborative and supportive school community.

- Qualifications
- Good communication skills, written and verbal.
- NVQ level 2 or equivalent in numeracy and literacy.
- Experience
- Craft skills, e.g. plumber, electrician and decorating or previous experience in a caretaking role including repairs and maintenance.
- Working within a school setting.
- Liaising with external contractors including negotiating prices for small jobs.
- Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to alert senior staff to unsafe practices.
- Understanding of the context in which the schools are working.
- An ability to undertake risk assessments in relation to premises function.
- Confident in the use of a range ICT software packages (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Teams).
- Ability to relate well to staff, governors and pupils and to be assertive when necessary.
- Ability to work unsupervised and be able to work as a member of a team.
- Ability to negotiate desired outcomes, e.g. prices, deadlines.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to lead, manage and motivate staff.
