Job Description
The primary role of Agri-Food and Land-Based Specialists (Agriculture
\n Inspector Grade III) is to interpret, analyse and present technical information to
\n students, farmers and growers, policy regulators and industry personnel in a
\n form that meets their needs. Agri-Food and Land Based Specialists -
\n Horticulture will normally work within the horticulture discipline in CAFRE.
\n However, post holders may be assigned to other posts in DAERA including
\n regulatory functions which require the post holder to have the relevant Honours
\n degree. The main duties and responsibilities of the post holders include:
\n • The development and delivery of education programmes provided by
\n CAFRE, to ensure the sustainability of the horticulture industry through
\n the implementation of DAERA policy.
\n • The development and delivery of Knowledge Transfer and Innovation
\n programmes linked to research findings, to ensure the competitiveness
\n of the agri-food industry through the adoption of technology/systems and
\n best practice methods of sustainable production and business
\n management.
\n • The design, provision and evaluation of inspection, regulatory
\n compliance and enforcement programmes and technical support on a
\n range of issues including plant health regulations.
\n • Other duties in line with the needs of DAERA, including driving a
\n Departmental vehicle.
\n • For teaching posts based in CAFRE campuses the successful
\n candidate(s) may be required to drive a Department minibus.
\n
