This role acts as the central bridge between these functions, ensuring that data entering our systems is accurate, complete, and flowing correctly through all downstream processes—from customer‑facing outputs to internal reporting and regulatory submissions. The position provides essential assurance, identifying issues early and preventing operational or financial impact. This role is also critical to maintaining compliance across GDPR, financial duties, taxes, and system requirements relating to duty calculations and carrier selection. By providing focused, ongoing oversight, the postholder ensures that regulatory obligations are consistently met without placing additional pressure on already stretched teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Integrity & Flow
- Map data flows across the multi‑application platform estate, from data import through to customer delivery and reporting.
- Identify gaps, breaks, and inconsistencies in data movement, working with IT and development teams to resolve issues.
- Design and implement data quality controls, validation rules, and monitoring tools.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date data flow documentation.
- Act as the first point of escalation for data quality issues raised by Finance, Operations, or Compliance.
- Compliance & Regulatory Assurance
- Maintain ongoing assurance that systems and processes meet GDPR requirements, including data handling, retention, and subject access.
- Ensure duty calculation logic and carrier selection rules remain accurate and compliant with financial and customs regulations.
- Translate regulatory obligations into system controls and monitoring requirements.
- Support internal and external audits with clear evidence of data accuracy and compliance controls.
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on system configurations.
- Cross‑Functional Bridging
- Serve as the dedicated link between IT, Finance, Compliance, and Project teams.
- Represent data integrity and compliance requirements within project governance forums.
- Produce clear reporting for leadership on system health, data quality metrics, and compliance status.
- Support Business Analysts and Project Managers by owning the data integrity and compliance workstream.
Technical Skills & Experience
- Experience in a data, compliance, or systems analyst role within a technology‑led environment.
- Strong understanding of data flows, system integrations, and multi‑application estates.
- Experience designing or implementing data quality controls or monitoring frameworks.
- Working knowledge of GDPR and practical application of data compliance requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret SQL queries to validate data and system outputs.
- Proficiency with process and data flow mapping tools (e.g., Visio or equivalent).
- Background in eCommerce, logistics, customs, or financial services.
- Experience working across IT and Finance functions.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks or lineage tools.
- Exposure to import/export regulations or carrier compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting audits or regulatory submissions.
