Asda is undergoing an exciting data transformation, placing insight and analytics at the heart of strategic decision-making. We are seeking a Senior Insight Analyst who combines spatial data expertise with strong analytical, insight, and data-driven storytelling skills.
Working as part of the Geospatial team, you’ll play a key role in turning spatial data into strategic insights to tackle real-world problems such as location strategy, online delivery, targeted marketing, and customer analytics. You’ll collaborate with colleagues across the insight, property, commercial, and operations teams, helping to embed spatial thinking into day-to-day decision-making at Asda.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Spatial Insight: Support the development of geospatial analytics that solve business problems and contribute to transformation initiatives.
- Geospatial Analytics Execution: Apply spatial modelling and analytical techniques using tools such as Databricks and ESRI ArcGIS to produce actionable insights.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work with colleagues across departments to scope spatial opportunities and embed geospatial data into decision-making processes.
- Insight Generation: Translate complex geospatial datasets into accessible and actionable insights that support planning and operations.
- Visual Storytelling: Develop visual narratives using tools like Databricks and ArcGIS to communicate spatial data effectively to business users.
- Project Contribution: Contribute to geospatial analytics projects, ensuring clarity, reproducibility, and robustness in all outputs.
- Promote Best Practice: Support consistent spatial methodologies and peer learning across the insight community at Asda.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Experience delivering geospatial analytics in a data-driven environment
- Proficient in SQL/Python and familiar with GIS technologies
- Ability to communicate spatial insights to non-technical stakeholders
- Track record of translating geospatial insight into commercial action
- Comfortable working independently on scoped analytics tasks
- Degree in a numerate, geography, or analytical field
Desirable:
- Familiarity with spatial data science and modelling techniques
- Experience with Microsoft Azure and Databricks
- Experience using BI tools such as Power BI/Tableau
- Background in retail, FMCG, or other data-rich industries
