Overview

As a Product Quality & Supplier Technologist, your role is to drive Own Brand food and drink product quality with the objective to increase Asda's quality perception with customers.

You will be accountable for ensuring that Asda products always meet the required quality specification, through testing & sampling and by driving a culture of quality within the supply base and within Asda to deliver our Quality Framework.

Responsibilities

  • Support our suppliers to deliver great quality and value products to our customers, everyday. You will have challenging conversations with Suppliers to ensure the quality of our products are of the highest standard.
  • Champion Asda’s standards within the business and with suppliers so all of our products meet or exceed customer expectations. This will include supporting and driving internal stakeholders if quality isn’t up to standard.
  • Take the lead on customer quality dissatisfaction, leveraging the power of internal stakeholders and suppliers to bring about meaningful and sustainable change.
  • Lead and own investigations into product quality fails, customer quality complaints and online reviews as examples of accountable metrics.
  • Take a leading role in assessing product quality after product launches– so we all deliver right first time for customers.
  • Maintain a strong grip on key customer quality KPIs that you robustly deliver within your accountable area.
  • Will require travel to our suppliers manufacturing facilities and depots.

Qualifications

  • A passion and knowledge of food & quality.
  • You will be required to sample our wide range of Asda Brand food products.
  • Degree or equivalent experience in relevant product or scientific area.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience making difficult decisions.
  • Ability to interpret data and represent data to present.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to influence/ cascade information to the wider business/Suppliers.
  • An understanding of technical and manufacturing processes.
  • Commercially & customer aware.
  • Experience within a retail/manufacturing environment.
  • Be able to build strong sustainable and mutually beneficial relationships with key Suppliers.
  • Ability to prioritise and flex to business needs.
