This role requires on-site presence at Asda House in Leeds three days per week. We’re really looking forward to having you around!

Do you have a passion for innovation and resolving technical challenges? We’re looking for a Performance Engineer who will help drive the Performance Test strategy and QE ways of working across Asda Technology.

This role is ideal for someone who has a technical background with the ability to lead and drive change. The role will work closely with various stakeholders such as; engineers, architects and support teams. This role has a 50/50 split for hands on /hands off.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support defining and delivering the Performance Test Strategy
  • Guide and mentor teams, driving best practice
  • Carry out proof of concepts on new Tools/Technologies
  • Work with third-party vendors and internal squads to embed QE practices into the SDLC and enable early performance testing
  • Support in resolving technical challenges faced by project/product teams
  • Refine NFR’s where needed and contribute to the wider NFR gathering process
  • Support creating new ways of working/processes as we move into our new operating model

What You Bring

We’re looking for someone who can lead a small team to drive change and standards across all of Asda Technology.

You’ll likely have:

  • Experience using and managing a variety of Performance Test Tools, such as LoadRunner, JMeter & K6
  • Experience troubleshooting performance and scalability issues in both Production and Non-Production environments
  • Experience working with Microsoft Azure and SAP
  • Hands on use of monitoring and observability tools such as Application Insights and New Relic
  • Experience with various query languages such as SQL, KQL, Lucene, NRQL to analyse logs and metrics for modelling and troubleshooting would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of testing in differing SDLC models and Shift Left principles
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Any experience in testing Retail, Finance, Supply Chain, People management or e-commerce systems would be greatly beneficial
