Within our George team, we have an exciting opportunity as a Sustainability Co-ordinator for our non-food sourcing activity, predominantly Textiles (with some General Merchandise responsibility). It’s a great role for an inquisitive individual who has a good level of understanding of key textile sustainability impacts and commitments that Asda must be compliant towards.

Your Role:

  • Ensure George Clothing compliance with CMA undertaking, ensuring adherence to the Green Claims Code where applicable.
  • Co-ordinate reporting for Sustainability Initiatives such as Textiles 2030, Better Cotton, Carbon Trust, Asda ESG report.
  • Liaise with trading teams to ensure accuracy of data in range plan.
  • Actions related to our carbon & water reduction strategy, in line with the Asda company strategy and commitments.
  • Lead data improvements projects across non-food.
  • Participate in relevant company squads such as the Change Squad to champion sustainability in decision making across the trading floors.
  • Ensure sustainability training is kept relevant and accessible for George colleagues.
  • Manage the EAF’s programme, driving supplier self approvals and monitoring through spot checks and co-ordinating across offices.
  • Keep updated with industry and economic developments from a Sustainability viewpoint, highlighting risks and opportunities to the business.
  • Consolidate data from an array of systems and stakeholders for annual sustainability reports, including the UK Textiles Pact Report, Better Cotton’s Cotton Consumption Report, the Carbon Trust Report and Asda’s central ESG Report.
