We are looking for an experienced Design Manager for our Womenswear - Jersey category. Working closely with and supporting your Commercial team, you will be researching and developing exciting new ranges, executing the latest trends that will appeal to the George customer and supporting on general design requirements.

Your Role

  • You’ll be accountable for creating and developing a commercial and trend led range which meets customer and market requirements.
  • As a Design Manager you will lead the design team, inspiring, managing and coaching the departments Junior and Assistant Designer.
  • You will confidently lead the critical path to ensure timely delivery of samples and take full accountability for the Womenswear product development from initial concept through to final product ensuring alignment with seasonal trends and brand direction.
  • Ensuring quality, style and value is consistently delivered across the ranges.

Let’s find out about you

  • Significant experience within either a retail or supply base fashion design environment and a strong track record of researching and producing innovative designs in line with customer needs.
  • Strategic mindset.
  • Confidence working with UK and overseas suppliers/factories to develop multi category products; Womenswear experience required.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the business.
  • An innovative approach and desire to drive a more digital way of working and the agility to flex your style, research and creativity across all product areas – juggling multiple critical paths.
  • A broad knowledge of CAD software (including Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator) as well as a strong critical path understanding will be key.
  • Experience of managing and coaching junior designers.
