Key Responsibilities:
- Work with category product managers to ensure innovation and product development are driven in specific product areas, delivering newness and incremental sales.
- Coordinate market reviews, trade show calendars, and market innovation activities, circulating relevant information to colleagues.
- Book and coordinate product panels (NPD, EPD, Pre‑production, and launch) under PM guidance, accurately cascading minutes and actions from each panel.
- Assist in brand panel set‑up and product flow.
- Shop and coordinate market newness where appropriate.
- Coordinate product bibles for the area, ensuring all information is consistent and available within the critical path.
- Assist with category plans and strategy processes, providing support as required.
- Review and submit EPD specifications, attending critical‑path production meetings and communicating any delays in advance.
- Ensure required legal labelling requirements are met and suppliers comply with Asda’s technical, nutritional, legislative, and packaging policies.
- Attend workshops and training sessions to develop product knowledge.
- Take responsibility for product development on NPD projects assigned by the PM.
- Create briefs following the PM’s direction.
- Act as an own‑brand ambassador, supporting internal/external PR events, including exec walk rounds, product showcases, PR days, and award nominations.
- Ensure objectives are set, achievable, and that training is agreed with the line manager.
About You:
- Food science/technology or non‑food development/quality background.
- Strong food focus with detailed product knowledge.
- Experience working within retail or the supply base.
- Ability to prioritise and flex to changing business needs.
- Understanding of the customer and prioritising their needs.
- Good organisation and project management skills.
