Are you ready to add value in a fast-paced commercial environment where you will be providing advertising and consumer protection compliance advice in an innovative, competitive and rapidly expanding business? As a Manager in the Legal & Compliance team you will be responsible for the effective delivery of the Marketing Compliance and Consumer Protection programme through reviewing and advising on marketing; policy, process and guidance writing. This role requires ability to work at pace and prioritise workload whilst demonstrating strong problem solving and critical thinking skills to support business initiatives whilst managing risk.
Ideally you will either be an experienced:
Marketing/Advertising/Communications Manager with expert knowledge of marketing legislation and Advertising Codes or a legal expert with extensive marketing/consumer protection experience.
You Will
- Provide solutions-focused legal advice across all Asda and George advertising and communications
- Review and sign-off promotional materials in line with relevant legislation, guidance and the Advertising Codes
- Support business partners within the trading and marketing functions (including brand and ecommerce) by identifying and explaining any legal risks and supporting them to navigate such risks to enable the development of compelling advertising campaigns
- Mitigate potential issues concerning intellectual property, reputational and regulatory risk
- Be responsible for creating, publishing and updating policy, procedure and guidance documents across all areas of Consumer Protection and Advertising
- Build solid relationships with and coach colleagues across the business
- Develop and maintain relationships with relevant external contacts (e.g. Government organisations, regulatory bodies, trade & industry associations etc.)
- Be responsible for leading, developing and mentoring junior legal colleagues in the team
- Support and draft our responses to Advertising Standards Authority complaints through investigation, correction and root cause analysis
- Positively identify and mitigate risk by working cross-functionally and providing timely input
- Support on the production and delivery of training to upskill business partners as required

- Knowledge of the consumer regulatory environment and appreciation of consumer protection legislation as well as the CAP/BCAP Codes for advertising
- The ability to risk assess and think innovatively within a retail environment
