Do you want to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with the opportunity to work in a truly commercial role at the forefront of driving decision making?
You will support strategic decisions within our transformation program that underpins our three-year plan. These projects include investments in store layout and kit, the commercial review of Asda Living (a non-food retail park format), supplier partnerships and end to end costing, and pricing optimisation, among other new initiatives to deliver sustainable growth.
You will play a key support role in the investment approval process, by liaising and challenging teams to produce high quality business cases that maximise commercial performance and support the approval governance at the exec level, providing exposure to senior board members.
You will be responsible for understanding and driving commercial performance improvements, stimulating strategic decision making, driving financial discipline and accountability.
Your Role
- Drive the non-food transformation agenda – work with the business to identify opportunities to increase efficiency and cost savings, ultimately tracking and driving the delivery.
- Be an integral part of the project teams to develop a fast, responsive, and cost-effective operating model.
- Financially model and assess proposed capital investments (e.g., tech, infrastructure).
- Identify and recommend opportunities to reduce costs and increase the visibility of spend on the supply chain such as product costs, freight and retail operations.
- Analyse and enhance commercial tools to model the impact of exchange rate fluctuations, provide accurate financial forecasts and support financial planning.
- Provide trading and sourcing functions with Margin Building Blocks for their seasonal plans to ensure external economic factors (Ex. rates, labour rates, wage inflation etc.) are incorporated within the buying team\’s strategy.
- Analyse and propose opportunities to increase working capital.
- Deliver analytics at supplier level and identify margin opportunities.
- Provide net profitability insight.
About You
- The role would suit a qualified accountant ACA, ACCA or CIMA background interested in working in retail.
- Trading finance have experience in commercial finance with confidence to set the agenda.
- An inquisitive mind with a desire to understand how things work and connect together.
- A growth mindset to invest in the development opportunities available both technically and personally.
- Ability to build and maintain exceptional customer relationships
- Pro-active with the ability to challenge and influence senior stakeholders • Strong analytical and communication skills
- Ability to operate within a broader customer leadership team
