Do you want to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment in a role critical to influencing key investment decisions? Asda is looking to expand its convenience portfolio at pace and deliver multiple projects to optimise our estate and so it is a time of exciting change.
You will lead the evaluation of strategic investments, providing clear, data driven financial analysis and insight to support business cases, capital investments and long term planning. It is a high impact role suited to someone who enjoys combining strategic thinking with analytics and business partnering.
Your Role
- You will be responsible for developing investment appraisals and working closely with the business to influence decision making to drive growth and cash generation.
- You will manage the financial modelling for a wide range of initiatives including; Asda livings remodels, Supermarket conversions, new convenience stores, car park space optimisation and large store refreshes/remodel.
- The main responsibilities include:
- Develop and deliver the 5 year growth plan for convenience and Living new store openings.
- Own reporting and forecast of performance vs plan.
- Lead financial evaluation of property related investments – site acquisitions, lease negotiations, capital projects.
- Lead the end to end appraisal including financial modelling, scenario planning and risk assessment.
- Develop and maintain robust financial models – standardised and automated where possible, including ongoing assessment of the returns framework aligned to business priorities.
- Partner with senior stakeholders to develop business cases and board papers.
- Provide challenge and insight to ensure investments are strategically aligned and deliver long term value.
- Present recommendations to senior stakeholders and investment committees.
- Collaborative working across finance and the wider business to enhance appraisal models.
- Post launch review of investments.
About You
- The role requires a qualified accountant ACA, ACCA or CIMA background.
- Experience in investment appraisals.
- Strong analytical skills are essential, with experience of using large data sets.
- An inquisitive mind with a desire to understand how things work and connect together.
- Ability to break down and solve complex problems.
- Experience in building and maintaining exceptional customer relationships.
- Pro-active with the ability to challenge and influence senior stakeholders.
- Enjoys working in a fast paced environment.
