In our Implementation teams, we work hard to build new stores, roll out store upgrades and deliver large scale asset replacement programmes across our retail and distribution locations, working closely with an extensive network of contractors, consultants and subject matter experts.

Our Commercial and PMO team develops subject matter expertise in Quantity Surveying and Programme Management to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and cost effectively. As Data and PMO Co-ordinator you’ll be exposed to a fast paced, dynamic retail environment, exploring the different areas of Property. You’ll get the opportunity to visit sites across our estate and gain insight into the importance of Property as a key function to deliver for our customers and colleagues. You’ll truly understand the lifecycle of Property projects.

You will play a key role within the department, with responsibility for managing data and providing vital insights, and managing various programmes of activity within construction workstreams, which may include new stores, remodel programmes, category rollouts and operational efficiency projects to support Asda’s strategic growth targets. You will collaborate and build strong day to day relationships with multiple stakeholders including Property, Finance, Construction Managers, Contractors, Consultants, and other Project Managers / PMO’s to ensure projects are delivered on time and as per the agreed scope.

You will be required to facilitate relevant internal Governance meetings, ensuring best practice is followed and compliance adopted. You will be responsible for:

  • Data Management and Storage: Collect and centralise data from fragmented sources, and co-ordinate the facilitation of our internal document storage systems.
  • Data Reporting & Visualisation: Design automated dashboards to provide "one version of the truth" for stakeholders, from site managers to executives. Undertake cross-functional analysis of project and programme data looking at trends to inform business planning.
  • Programme Reporting: Ensure programme reports are maintained, consistently reviewed, and updated to supply accurate updates to the Property & Construction Leadership.
  • Risk Management: Actively manage and where necessary escalate risks, issues, and other dependencies, constructing suitable action plans to rectify and deliver the project (RAID).
  • Communication: Acting as a liaison between project teams, project managers, and other stakeholders to share information, updates, and requests.
  • Documentation & Record-Keeping: Maintaining project documents, process maps, and official records, and ensuring they are up-to-date and accessible.
  • Resource Management: Helping to manage resource requirements for each programme, highlighting constraints when alternative decisions are needed.
  • Tool & System Administration: Setting up and managing project management tools and maintaining systems.
  • Process Improvement: Help to identify opportunities to drive efficiency and improve overall performance across workstreams.
  • Governance and Standards: Facilitate property governance forums ensuring best practice is followed, to support effective and timely decision-making, risk management and action completion across the lifecycle of projects.

You will have strong technical proficiency: Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, Power Query, Power apps, Power Automate) and Power BI. You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to translate data into clear, non-technical insights for project stakeholders. Ideally you will have project / programme management experience, ideally in a construction, retail or similar fast-paced environment, and a good understanding of managing moving deadlines, multiple projects, and critical paths.

You will be a natural problem solver, with an inquisitive nature and drive to find answers and solutions. An understanding of PMO methodologies, especially waterfall, is preferential. You will have delivered or supported change in a cross functional environment, by inspiring and influencing a wide network, building strong relations and networks with internal and external stakeholders.

You will have the ability to persevere with significant change and challenges, finding creative ways to overcome barriers, and bounce back from setbacks. Have previous experience of managing data and creating reporting templates. Utilising data to identify risks and opportunities and to develop new ideas and concepts.

You are innovative and are always looking for a way to continuously improve procedures to make them simpler, easier, and quicker for the team and end users.

To ensure we balance moments where we know we need to collaborate together and the need for flexibility, Asda has a hybrid way of working with a minimum 3 days a week in one of our Home Offices.
