Responsibilities:
- Lead the execution of the store’s day-to-day operations across key departments, including Ambient, Fresh, George (clothing), and General Merchandise, to maximise availability and minimise waste and shrink.
- Work closely with department managers to deliver consistent standards, drive productivity, and ensure the store is ready for customers; manage delivery flow, stock routines, and compliance; be the driving force behind operational excellence.
- Improve availability, reduce waste, and manage shrink through data-driven decision making and effective leadership.
- Lead and support department managers, creating a culture of accountability and a clear approach to change management.
- Operate in a fast-paced environment with flexible shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Foster collaboration across teams to ensure smooth operations and a seamless customer experience.
What you’ll bring / Qualifications:
- Experience managing or supervising in a large-format retail environment.
- Strong operational knowledge across food and non-food departments.
- Track record of improving availability, reducing waste, and managing shrink.
- Confidence in leading teams and managing change.
- Flexibility to work a range of shifts.
- Execution-focused: a bias for getting things done right, first time, every time.
- Commercial awareness: understanding how availability, waste, and shrink impact performance and how to improve them.
