Eligibility and Qualifications

  • A fully qualified optometrist registered with the General Optical Council (GOC)
  • A registered performer with your NHS area team or health board
  • MECs or WECs accredited (or willing to gain accreditation within 12 months of joining Asda – funded and supported by us)
  • On track to meet the statutory points requirement for continuing professional development (CPD)
  • Able to use skills and passion to deliver a memorable customer experience
  • Passionate about developing new patient services and shaping the culture of the department
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom

To be considered, you must be registered with the GOC for the relevant professional role type and provide evidence of Right to Work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Perform eye examinations and extended services, along with contact lens fittings
  • Provide high-quality patient care in line with NHS extended service contracts
  • Work alongside our Dispensing Optician Manager to support colleagues through training, coaching and ensuring departmental standards
  • Assist in gaining additional accreditations required for NHS service delivery
  • Support the clinical and service aspects of the department, offering expert advice when required
  • Optional: Supervise students to support the next generation of optical professionals
