Responsibilities

  • Responsible for working with the category product managers to ensure innovation & product development is driven in specific product areas to deliver newness & incremental sales.
  • Co-ordinates reviews of the market, trade shows calendar creation, market innovation and circulates relevant information to colleagues.
  • Booking and co-ordinating product panels under the guidance of their PM including NPD, EPD, Pre-production & launch. Accurately cascading the minutes and actions from each.
  • Assisting in brand panel set up and product flow.
  • Shopping and co-ordinating market newness where appropriate.
  • Co-ordination of product bibles for area, ensuring all information is consistent and available within the critical path.
  • Is aware of category plans, assists on category strategy process and is known by the team for support where required.
  • EPD spec review and submission, attending critical path production meetings prepared to communicate with prior notice of any delays to the process.
  • Ensures the necessary legal requirements in terms of labelling are met and that suppliers comply with Asda's technical, nutritional, legislative and packaging policies.
  • Actively attends workshops and training to ensure product knowledge development.
  • Product development responsibility for NPD project assigned by PM.
  • Assisting on brief creation process following the direction of the PM.
  • Is an Own Brand Ambassador supporting internal/external PR events, including Exec Walk rounds, Product Showcases, PR days and nominations for awards.

Qualifications

  • Accountable for ensuring their objectives are set out, achievable and has training agreed with line manager.
  • Food Science / technology background. Non food development/quality background.
  • Strong food focus with area product knowledge.
  • Experience working within retail or the supply base.
  • Ability to prioritise and flex to the changing needs of the business.
  • Shows understanding of the customer and represents their needs first.
  • Good organisation/project management skills.
  • Good decision making skills.
  • Good communication and networking skills.
  • Has commercial awareness, and understanding of the factors that affect costs.
  • Ability to create right plans for delivery, to ensure we balance moments where we know we need to collaborate together and the need for flexibility.

Asda has a hybrid way of working with a minimum 3 days a week in one of our Home Offices. Over and above this, each area of Asda may have additional requirements which may require spending more days in the office, visiting suppliers, stores or depots.
