Overview: At Asda Opticians, our priority is to always put our customers first by delivering high quality patient care and service. A typical day will involve completing eye examinations, contact lens and extended service examinations. You will work alongside our Dispensing Optician Manager to support colleagues with training, coaching and maintaining departmental standards. Due to our extended service contracts with the NHS, we are committed to delivering a wide range of care for the treatment and monitoring of eye conditions and will support you to gain any additional accreditations you may need to deliver these services. We are passionate about providing our Optometrists with all the training they need to fulfil their role and enhance their skills.
Responsibilities:
- Complete eye examinations, contact lens fittings and extended service examinations.
- Support colleagues with training and coaching to maintain departmental standards.
- Deliver eye care services under NHS extended service contracts.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new patient services.
- Participate in optional supervision of students and professional development programmes.
- Provide expert advice and support for service‑based queries within in‑store, regional and home office teams.
- Follow the rota: Week 1 – Saturday 09:00‑17:30, Monday‑Thursday 09:00‑17:30; Week 2 – Monday‑Friday 09:00‑17:30.
Qualifications:
- Fully qualified optometrist registered with the GOC.
- Registered performer with your NHS area team or health board.
- MECs or WECs accredited (or willing to gain accreditation within 12 months of joining Asda – funded and supported by us).
- On track to meet the statutory points requirement for CPD.
- Ability to deliver a memorable customer experience using clinical skills and passion for the role.
- Passionate about developing new patient services and shaping the culture of the department.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Evidence of NHS performer list membership and two clinical references (WECS accreditation & WGOS module for Wales).
