As a Pharmacy Accuracy Checking Dispensing Assistant (ACDA), you will play a crucial role in our in‑store pharmacies, which are hugely popular with our customers. They will expect the same warmth and friendliness they get everywhere else in the store, as well as confidence and ease when discussing personal health issues.
Responsibilities
- Check the accuracy of dispensed medicines, verifying patient details, medication type, dosage, labelling, and packaging.
- Report any medication errors or incidents promptly and correctly.
- Perform the final accuracy check of listed items that have been clinically checked by a pharmacist.
- Conduct regular audits of the dispensary and stock levels and supervise pharmacy assistants to ensure proper dispensing procedures.
- Maintain proper documentation and records of all tasks undertaken; guide and train pharmacy staff and share knowledge and expertise.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and practices.
- Support the pharmacist with delivery and effective record‑keeping of patient services (e.g., blood pressure checks, stop‑smoking schemes).
- Drive awareness of all extra services offered in the pharmacy (e.g., Blood Pressure, New Medicine Service, Asda Online Doctor).
Qualifications
- Pass an enhanced safeguarding check.
- Have at least 6 months of continuous employment within the pharmacy industry (hospital & community).
- Hold an NVQ2 in Pharmacy Services/Dispensing Assistant qualifications completed via a GPhC accredited route.
- Be naturally friendly, highly organised and eager to get involved, working with your team to deliver great results.
- Have excellent attention to detail, strong computer and communication skills, and the ability to interact well with customers.
- Possess problem‑solving skills, a passion for helping people, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy in a busy pharmacy environment.
- Have a strong understanding of regulatory standards and the importance of compliance.
- Care about giving customers a great healthcare experience and helping them find what they need.
