Based at our Leeds site (LS10 1SD), we are recruiting a Processing Operative for our afternoon shift (2.00pm-10.00pm, Monday to Friday). The main purpose of this role is to operate the saw/drill line, Shotblast, or an appropriate scheduled activity e.g. picking, sawing, loading, basic maintenance, TPM, 5S, or any other duties as directed. This may involve moving to another area, machine centre, or location. All activities must be carried out in accordance with EHS, Quality & safe working practices.
What you will need:
- Experience operating forklift trucks and overhead cranes
- Background in manufacturing, steel, warehousing or distribution preferred
- Strong awareness of health and safety and a willingness to follow procedure
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up tools on the saw/drill
- Select, inspect and load component material
- Carry out processing of material
- Carry out and record finished goods inspections as specified
- Identify programming and set up errors
- Work with managers and supervisors to implement the companies policies and business objectives
- Make a positive contribution to maintaining a workplace that is healthy, safe, neat & tidy
- Carry out continuous improvement, 5S and total production maintenance activities
- Carry out other reasonable duties as required by the production supervisor
Relevant Experience/Skills/Knowledge:
- Experience of working to EN standard tolerances
- Understanding of working to finer tolerances as specified by clients
- Able to use a range of measuring equipment
- Exhibit initiative and enthusiasm
- Will have a positive approach to tasks, opportunities and problems
- Operates with discretion, confidentiality and professionalism
- Experience of 5S and Total Productive Maintenance
