Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Warehouse Operative to join our team in Dudley (DY2 0UY). This role is critical in ensuring customer orders are fulfilled accurately, safely and efficiently within a fast-paced industrial environment. There are two roles:

  • Afternoon shift - 2.00pm until 10.00am daily, Monday to Friday, 37½ hours a week excluding breaks.
  • Night shift - 10.00pm to 6.00am, Sunday to Thursday, 37½ hours a week excluding breaks.

Our warehouse operations involve picking and packing materials, loading vehicles and operating a range of equipment including forklifts and overhead cranes. Due to the nature of our products, the warehouse environment can be physically demanding, dirty, and subject to temperature variations (hot in summer and cold in winter). Applicants should be comfortable working in these conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pick and process computer-generated customer orders, including repetitive handling and lifting of large and heavy materials (steel).
  • Accurately record stock movements and product usage using internal systems.
  • Identify products correctly and use measuring equipment where required.
  • Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes to transfer stock.
  • Assist with the production, preparation and dispatch of customer orders.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to support operational requirements as needed.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in a warehouse or industrial environment.
  • Ability to safely handle large and heavy steel products.
  • Basic IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) and willingness to learn internal systems.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to health and safety.
  • Stable and consistent employment history.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience working in heavy industry, ideally within the steel sector.
  • Valid forklift truck licence.
  • Experience operating an overhead crane.
