We are seeking a motivated and reliable Processing Operative to join our team in Edinburgh (EH28 8PJ). This role is critical in ensuring customer orders are fulfilled accurately, safely and efficiently within a fast‑paced industrial environment.
Working hours are 45 per week, Monday to Friday, 8.00 pm until 6.00 am daily. This role involves handling, processing and preparing steel products to meet customer specifications while maintaining high safety and quality standards. Due to the nature of our products, the warehouse environment can be physically demanding, dirty, and subject to temperature variations (hot in summer and cold in winter). Applicants should be comfortable working in these conditions.
Key Responsibilities- Operate machinery to cut, process and prepare steel materials
- Handle and move steel stock safely using appropriate equipment
- Carry out quality checks to ensure products meet specifications
- Accurately pick, pack and prepare orders for dispatch
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment
- Follow all health and safety procedures at all times
- Assist with stock control and inventory checks
- Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes to transfer stock
- Assist with the production, preparation and dispatch of customer orders
- Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrate flexibility to support operational requirements as needed
- Experience working in heavy industry, ideally within the steel sector
- Stable and consistent employment history
- Previous experience in a warehouse or industrial environment
- Ability to safely handle large and heavy steel products
- Basic IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) and willingness to learn internal systems
- Strong work ethic and commitment to health and safety
- Valid forklift truck licence
- Experience with CNC machines
