Role Overview
At Birkenhead, we bring together extensive hot-rolled coil stock and advanced de-coiling capabilities under one roof. The primary purpose of this role will be to work as a team to operate one of our two de-coiling machines, pick, process and load customer orders and offload incoming stock.
Key Responsibilities
- Work to customer specifications to ensure material is processed in accordance with these.
- Pick and process computer-generated customer orders, including repetitive handling and lifting of large and heavy materials.
- Accurately record stock movements and product usage using SAP.
- Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes to transfer stock (where qualified).
- Assist with the production, preparation, and dispatch of customer orders.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrate flexibility to support operational requirements as needed.
Requirements
- Stable and consistent employment history.
- Experience of working in a heavy industry environment (preferably in steel).
- Ability to safely handle large and heavy steel products.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to health and safety.
- Experience of operating overhead cranes and counterbalance forklift trucks.
