This would suit someone who enjoys driving, has a genuine interest in cars and is looking for a flexible part-time position.

The Role

Your main responsibility will be travelling throughout the UK to collect vehicles purchased by ASD Automotive and safely returning them to our dealership in Derby. Duties will include:

  • Collecting vehicles from customers, dealerships, auctions and other locations across the UK
  • Delivering vehicles to customers when required
  • Driving a variety of vehicles, including prestige and performance cars
  • Carrying out a basic visual inspection before collecting a vehicle
  • Checking for obvious bodywork damage, warning lights, tyre condition and general vehicle condition
  • Taking photographs and reporting any issues before leaving the collection location
  • Checking vehicle documentation, keys and accessories are present where required
  • Keeping collected vehicles clean and treating every vehicle with care
  • Communicating regularly with the dealership during collections

Vehicle Inspection

Previous vehicle appraisal or inspection experience would be beneficial, but is not essential. We can provide training on the checks we require when collecting vehicles. Over time, we’d like the successful candidate to become confident carrying out a basic pre-purchase/collection inspection, including checking:

  • Bodywork and alloy wheel condition
  • Tyres and brakes visually
  • Warning lights
  • Fluid levels where appropriate
  • Interior condition
  • Vehicle specification and accessories
  • Basic mechanical condition
  • Vehicle paperwork and service history

You won’t be expected to be a mechanic. We’re looking for someone observant who can follow a clear inspection process and communicate anything unusual before a vehicle is collected.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • Be a safe, confident and considerate driver
  • Be comfortable driving both manual and automatic vehicles
  • Be trustworthy and reliable
  • Have excellent attention to detail
  • Be punctual and organised
  • Be comfortable travelling longer distances
  • Be able to use a smartphone for photographs, messages and navigation
  • Have good communication skills
  • Take pride in looking after other people’s vehicles
  • Have a genuine interest in cars
  • Previous experience in vehicle collection/delivery, the motor trade, vehicle logistics, valeting or vehicle inspection would be advantageous but isn’t required.

Hours

This is a part-time, flexible position, expected to be approximately 2–3 days per week. Hours and days may vary depending on vehicle collections, so some flexibility is important. Certain collections may involve early starts or longer-distance journeys. There may also be opportunities for additional hours as ASD Automotive continues to grow.

Pay

£13.00–£15.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Why Join ASD Automotive?

You’ll be joining a growing independent dealership and working with a wide variety of interesting prestige and performance vehicles. For the right person, there will be an opportunity to learn more about vehicle inspection, appraisal and the wider motor trade, with the potential for the role to develop as the business grows.
