The Head of Technology is a senior, strategic role accountable for the Technology department, implementing the Technology vision for Ascot Racecourse, and overseeing delivery of all onsite technical infrastructure across the estate. The role will provide strategic direction, ensuring technology solutions are operationally robust, future focused and aligned to the requirements of our venue. This role will drive developments, improve existing standards and have oversight of all Technology projects.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Technology department.
- Develop and implement a clear strategy to ensure business needs are met with the best technical solutions, while also managing expectations around timelines and features.
- Maintain oversight of all Technology projects, collaborating closely with stakeholders to support the success of all projects and deployments, including custom development.
- Lead on the outsourcing of any required technology services, contracts, and partnerships.
- Ensure the creation, rollout and maintenance of Technology policies and procedures, focusing on security and regulatory compliance.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance onsite technology capability, efficiency and reliability, and overseeing the delivery of agreed improvements.
- Manage the Technology budget, covering outsourced services, development costs, capital and operating expenses and coordinate spending across departments.
- Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to provide insight to inform senior stakeholders and investment decisions.
- Provide informed advice on commercial technologies, ensuring decisions support revenue, customer experience and long term value.
- Work closely with in-house Marketing team to build and implement a roadmap for future digital platform developments based on user and market insights.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Experienced and effective leader and proven people manager.
- Excellent communicator, able to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Advanced computer hardware and software knowledge to include Cisco Networks, Ticketing Systems, Wi‑Fi Systems, EPOS, CDP and CRM Systems, as well as front end CMS‑based tools.
- Experience of managing web‑related Technology infrastructure, including data administration, security, and change management.
- Proven strong and advanced skills in large‑scale project management.
- Experience in handling contractual relationships with key suppliers.
- Ability to cope with and thrive in fast‑paced environments.
- Experience in developing and managing budgets.
- Experience in the sports or live events industry.
