What we are looking for:
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer, based full-time on site at Ascot Racecourse. The Mechanical Engineer will support the delivery of all mechanical building services and infrastructure across the venue, working under the direction of the M&E Team Leader. You will be responsible for providing mechanical engineering expertise to support long-term asset maintenance, system reliability and operational performance.
What you’ll be doing:
- Monitor and complete reactive and PPM work orders using the CAFM system, ensuring timely completion and accurate record-keeping.
- Promote and uphold Health & Safety standards within the M&E team.
- Support the M&E Team Leader with contractor management, including oversight of the catering equipment maintenance contract and associated service delivery.
- Assist with onsite C.A.T scanning activities (training available if required).
- Monitor, document and analyze building performance data via the BMS platform, ensuring systems operate effectively.
- Carry out fault-finding, maintenance and repair of AHUs and FCUs, including replacement of belts, filters, and associated components.
- Ensure the reliable and efficient operation of all mechanical building services, in line with site operating procedures and standard maintenance practices.
- Conduct routine mechanical alarm testing, ensuring all results and certification are documented accurately and maintained in compliance logs.
- Support small-scale plumbing and mechanical installation projects, including temporary water and drainage provisions for race days and live events.
- Provide Race Day and event infrastructure support, ensuring mechanical services meet operational demands during peak venue activity.
- Support the team’s on-call rota, providing out-of-hours support (1 in 5 weeks).
Skills and experience you can bring:
- Recognised formal mechanical or plumbing training (e.g., City and Guilds).
- Relevant qualifications and competencies in a mechanical discipline.
- Formal training in catering equipment maintenance and repairs (advantageous).
- Significant experience as a Building Services Engineer within a large organisation.
- Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings.
- Hands-on experience with BMS systems (Schneider Eco Structure advantageous).
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and COSHH requirements.
- Proven experience in fault-finding techniques.
- Computer literate with good ICT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
