Role title: Tax Return Assistant

Reports to: Tax Consultant

Hours of work: 35 hours per week

Purpose of role

This role will form an integral part of the in-house Tax compliance Team. The team supports clients and advisers with their tax compliance issues, which includes preparing annual tax returns and advising on tax associated matters. The role would suit someone interested in developing their career as a tax adviser Training and support will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare annual tax returns.
  • Calculating annual tax liabilities and future tax liabilities.
  • Dealing with clients, advisers and HMRC queries.
  • Research tax legislation as and when required.
  • Safeguard client data in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Report any compliance issues or suspected compliance breaches to the Team Manager for reporting to the Compliance Team.
  • Keeping skills and knowledge of the self-assessment tax system up to date
  • Billing

SM&CR Responsibilities

As an FCA regulated Company, Ascot Lloyd are required to adhere to the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR), to develop a culture where employees take personal responsibility for their own actions.

Experience / Skills Required

  • The successful candidate will need to have excellent client facing skills, be a strong communicator and have a good working knowledge of the self-assessment tax system. Daily tasks will include:
    • Responding to client queries.
    • Processing information in tight timescales.
    • Communicating complex information in an understandable way.
    • Utilising a range of financial and legal information to complete self-assessment tax returns.
