Job Summary
- Support the implementation and development of a new Syndicate Pricing Tool to improve underwriting efficiency and meet Lloyd’s pricing standards.
- Learn and use Hx Renew software and Python to build and maintain pricing models independently, following the agreed development plan.
- Work closely with the software provider to ensure the tool functions correctly and delivers expected benefits.
- Understand current pricing models and help rebuild them in Hx Renew, ensuring consistency and accuracy before they go live.
- Create portfolio reports using data from Hx Renew to provide useful insights across different business areas.
- Maintain clear documentation for all pricing models moved into Hx Renew.
- Provide training and support to Underwriting teams to help them use Hx Renew effectively.
Pricing Framework Responsibilities
- Support the development and ongoing upkeep of the Syndicate’s Pricing Framework, while contributing to the maintenance of Lloyd’s Pricing Maturity Matrix.
- Build strong relationships with underwriting teams to encourage long‑term engagement with pricing tools and technical pricing methods.
- Lead the development, maintenance, and regular review of rating tools and pricing models for assigned classes, including technical rating, base rates, relativity analysis, ILFs, rate monitoring, and documentation.
- Provide ad‑hoc pricing support to underwriting teams, including individual case pricing for risks outside standard criteria, using sound actuarial techniques.
- Work with pricing teams across the Ascot Group to align pricing approaches where appropriate.
- Support the Actuarial Function Report by contributing to the Opinion on Underwriting Policy and related analysis, in line with Lloyd’s guidance.
- Collaborate regularly with reserving, capital, and risk teams to ensure pricing reflects emerging trends and experience.
Wider Actuarial Responsibilities
- Provide training and support to junior actuarial team members to help them carry out their responsibilities and contribute to broader team objectives.
- Participate in relevant technical training and attend industry events or seminars to stay current with actuarial developments as needed.
- Support the wider goals of the Ascot Group Actuarial Function by contributing to pricing, reserving, and capital modelling activities as needed.
- Contribute to the business planning process and loss ratio allocations as required.

- Proactive and positive contribution to the pricing, development and wider ERM teams with respect to culture and teamwork, contributing to the overarching objectives of the team.
