Job Purpose:
To assist with executing the annual Conduct Plan, in accordance with Ascot’s conduct framework Financial Conduct Authority’s (“FCA”) requirements and Lloyd’s of London Oversight Principles.
To adopt a commercial, pragmatic approach, aligned to and working alongside Ascot’s Business stakeholders, providing support and advice where required on a range of conduct, consumer duty and complaints issues.
To help embed conduct related ownership and changes into the business through ongoing training, education, support and assistance. Assist in revising and updating Ascot’s Conduct Framework and related procedures, policies, processes and controls to ensure these remain proportionate, up-to-date and commensurate with Ascot’s business risk and growth.
Detailed Duties:
Conduct Risk
Assisting The Conduct & Complaints Manager With:
- Day to day execution of the annual Conduct Plan;
- Day to day operation and implementation of the Conduct Risk Framework;
- Ensuring Ascot’s conduct policies and procedures are implemented, embedded and followed;
- Assist with conducting a Conduct Pre-Bind Questionnaire (“CPBQ”) on new and existing products and providing the appropriate support to key stakeholders during this process;
- Assist with implementing and using the “VisRisk” tool to undertake Fair Value Assessments and ensuring any Fair Value Assessments are completed to a high standard and in a timely fashion;
- Support with ensuring Ascot’s products are manufactured and distributed in compliance with the IDD requirements and Ascot’s Conduct Framework;
- Assist with designing, advising on and conducting appropriate product testing, including stress testing and communication testing;
- Performing horizon scanning to identify regulatory updates specific to conduct and Consumer Duty;
- Reviewing, revising and updating conduct policies, including to incorporate new regulatory and legislative changes which may affect Ascot;
- Maintaining and developing the Conduct Risk Dashboard. Producing monthly and/or quarterly conduct reporting for internal governance requirements with assistance from the Conduct Manager;
- Participating and supporting internal initiatives and working closely with key internal stakeholders as and when required;
- Monitoring, reviewing and where appropriate responding to the Conduct Queries inbox and ensuring agreed response times and deadlines are met;
- Attending the Product Review Panel (“PRP”) and/or any other internal committees, working groups, projects or initiatives as and when required.
Consumer Duty
Assisting The Conduct & Complaints Manager With:
- Ensuring Ascot is fulfilling its Consumer Duty obligations, meeting the Outcomes and that this is being evidenced and reported;
- Producing monthly and/or quarterly Consumer Duty reporting for internal governance requirements;
- Drafting and compiling the annual Consumer Duty Report and obtaining POC and Board approval; and
- Providing ongoing training and education to the Ascot Business and other stakeholders on Consumer Duty requirements and Outcomes.
Complaints
- Working closely with the Complaints Handling Associate to obtain a working knowledge of the complaints handling process and provide ongoing support; and
- Monitoring Ascot’s Complaints inbox and responding to queries in a timely manner as and when required.
General responsibilities
- Developing a detailed knowledge of Ascot’s Business and ensuring the underwriting and issuance of all forms of open market and delegated underwriting business are carried out in accordance with the Conduct Framework;
- Attending regular Conduct Team meetings;
- Providing ongoing conduct training and education to new Ascot joiners and existing staff;
- Completing and submitting any regulatory returns as and when required;
- Assisting and developing a positive conduct, consumer duty and complaints culture within Ascot; and
- Ensuring Ascot’s consumers, customers and clients are kept at the heart of our business.
- Assisting with various Ascot internal project group(s), especially those with a Conduct, Consumer Duty, Delegated Authority or an Underwriting element, to help progress the project(s) and ensure key regulatory issues are considered and actioned;
- Working closely with internal stakeholders including:
- Complaints Handling Associates;
- Ascot’s Underwriting Teams;
- Delegated Authority Management Team;
- Claims Teams;
- Legal & Compliance Function;
- Data Management Teams;
- Senior Management, Executive and Non-Executives;
- The Product Review Panel (“PRP”) and Product Oversight Committee (“PoC”); and
- Other parts of the Ascot Business as and when required.
- Lloyd’s of London;
- the FCA;
- The LMA;
- The Financial Ombudsmen Services (“FOS”); and
- Any other regulatory body, committee or group as may be required.
