The predicted salary is between 54000 - 66000 Β£ per year.
Purpose: This role is ideal for an experienced Project Manager β Healthcare Technology with a strong background in construction-based project delivery, ideally gained within healthcare, infrastructure or other complex regulated environments. The successful candidate will have experience managing projects delivered through Principal Contractors under NEC-style contracts and be comfortable coordinating multiple stakeholders across live operational sites. Experience delivering technology or integrated systems within healthcare would be highly advantageous.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage customer delivery projects of medium to large size, working within agreed contract scope, assumptions, constraints, budgets and timelines.
- Plan and manage projects end to end, applying appropriate project management standards, tools, governance and reporting disciplines.
- Coordinate installation, integration, commissioning, testing, acceptance and handover activities, ensuring all work is delivered to the required quality and safety standards.
- Manage project risks, dependencies, milestones, decision points and resource plans, taking proactive action to keep delivery on track.
- Protect project margins by monitoring cost elements, including labour, subcontractor activity, hardware and materials, and escalating deviations promptly.
- Act as the main interface with customers, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams, ensuring clear communication and effective stakeholder management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Create and maintain project documentation, including status reports, risk logs, change records and handover documentation for Customer Care or support teams.
- Deliver projects in accordance with NEC4 or equivalent construction contract frameworks, ensuring contractual obligations, programme milestones and change control are effectively managed.
- Work closely with Principal Contractors, M&E contractors, consultants, subcontractors and client representatives to coordinate delivery activities throughout the construction programme.
- Manage delivery within live hospital environments, ensuring minimal disruption to clinical services whilst maintaining compliance with infection control, permit-to-work and site safety requirements.
- Lead project change management including Early Warning Notices (EWNs), compensation events, variations and scope changes where applicable.
- Coordinate technical design reviews, site surveys, construction readiness, commissioning activities, witness testing, customer acceptance and final handover.
- Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, RAMS, permit processes and site-specific health and safety requirements.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects across various locations, balancing customer priorities, internal resources and commercial objectives.
Experience and qualifications:
- Project Management qualification or certification, such as PRINCE2, PMP, APM or equivalent, would be beneficial.
- Proven experience managing construction-related projects, ideally involving infrastructure, cabling, technology deployment or site-based delivery.
- Strong project management capability, with experience planning, monitoring and delivering projects against agreed milestones, budgets and quality standards.
- Experience managing project risks, dependencies, change control, resource planning and stakeholder expectations.
- Experience working under NEC3/NEC4 or similar construction contract frameworks.
- Experience delivering projects within live healthcare environments would be highly desirable.
- Experience delivering technology, communications, nurse call, security, fire, AV, BMS or other integrated building systems would be advantageous.
Skills and competencies:
- Excellent project management, planning, organisation and delivery skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to work with customers, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and competing priorities in complex or sensitive operational environments.
- Strong commercial awareness, including cost control, margin protection and contract-based delivery.
- Reporting skills and attention to detail.
- Basic experience in contractual law applicable for customer delivery projects.
- Build strong relationships across clinical, estates, IT and construction stakeholders, ensuring all parties remain aligned throughout project delivery.
- Excellent planning skills with the ability to manage complex construction programmes, critical paths and interdependencies.
- Strong understanding of construction site processes, commissioning activities and phased handovers.
- Ability to confidently challenge programme issues, negotiate solutions and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience managing subcontractor performance and coordinating multidisciplinary delivery teams.
- Comfortable working independently whilst managing multiple concurrent projects across geographically dispersed sites.
- CSCS card or equivalent site qualification would be advantageous and SMSTS or SSSTS would be desirable.
