Contract: 15-18 Month Fixed-Term Contract
We are currently recruiting for a Stevedoring Site Manager to support a major port and logistics operation in Aberdeen. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced operations professional with a background in stevedoring, port operations, marine logistics, or heavy lift/project cargo activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination and management of stevedoring activities, ensuring operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver daily briefings and prepare daily and weekly operational reports.
- Coordinate and liaise with suppliers to maintain site infrastructure, equipment, and facilities.
- Conduct routine Health & Safety inspections, both independently and alongside client representatives.
- Liaise with vessel crews, transport providers, and lifting contractors to coordinate cargo load-in and discharge activities.
- Monitor and record cargo movements against packing lists, ensuring accurate tracking and documentation of all cargo operations.
- Maintain detailed operational records, including timings and activity logs, to support reporting requirements and potential delay claims.
- Deliver site inductions and RAMS briefings for personnel entering operational areas.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all site activities.
- Act as a key point of contact between operational teams, contractors, suppliers, and clients.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience in stevedoring, port operations, logistics, marine, cargo handling, or heavy lift environments.
- Strong understanding of operational coordination and site management activities.
- Experience working within a safety-critical environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders, including clients, vessel crews, contractors, and suppliers.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and record-keeping abilities.
- Competent in preparing operational reports and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
